Birth Photography & Videography at Atlanta Birth Center
Located in Midtown Atlanta, Atlanta Birth Center offers private labor & delivery rooms designed for Midwife-led birth experiences.
Birth Photography & Videography at Atlanta Birth Center
Atlanta Birth Center is one of our favorite places to photograph births in the Atlanta area.
For families seeking a midwife-led birth experience in a warm, home-like environment, Atlanta Birth Center offers something truly special. The atmosphere is calm, intentional, and deeply centered on supporting physiologic birth and family connection.
Atlanta Birth Center also holds a unique place in our story. Fun fact: Chanda photographed the very first baby born at Atlanta Birth Center when the center opened its doors. Since then, our team has documented countless births within these walls, making Atlanta Birth Center one of the places we know and love most.
Over the years, we've photographed first babies, fourth babies, water births, VBACs, sibling births, and quiet middle-of-the-night arrivals here. Every story is different, but the feeling is often the same—a sense of calm, trust, and anticipation as families welcome their babies into the world.
Why We Love Photographing Births at Atlanta Birth Center
There is a reason so many Atlanta families choose Atlanta Birth Center.
The environment feels intimate and peaceful. Families have the freedom to move throughout labor, settle into comfortable birth suites, labor in water if desired, and create an atmosphere that feels uniquely their own.
As documentary birth photographers, we love the way Atlanta Birth Center allows families to be fully present in their experience.
Without the distractions often associated with larger hospital environments, we're able to focus on what matters most:
The connection between partners
The support of midwives and doulas
The anticipation leading up to birth
The strength and vulnerability of labor
The moment a baby enters the world
The first hours of becoming a family
These are the moments that become the heart of a birth story.
What Birth Coverage Looks Like at Atlanta Birth Center
When labor begins, you'll keep us updated just as you would your midwife, doula, or support team.
As labor progresses, we'll make our way to Atlanta Birth Center and remain with you throughout labor, birth, and the immediate postpartum period.
Birth coverage often includes:
Arriving at the birth center
Settling into your birth suite
Labor support from your birth team
Time spent laboring in water, if desired
Partner and family interactions
Midwife support and care
The moments leading up to birth
Your baby's arrival
First skin-to-skin contact
Initial feeding
Newborn assessments
Family introductions
The first hours together before heading home
Our approach is always documentary. We don't pose, direct, or interrupt moments. We simply observe, anticipate, and preserve the story as it unfolds naturally.
A Team Familiar with Atlanta Birth Center
Because we've photographed so many births at Atlanta Birth Center over the years, we're familiar with the birth suites, lighting conditions, flow of care, and the rhythms of the space.
We understand how to work respectfully alongside midwives, nurses, doulas, and support teams while remaining unobtrusive.
That familiarity allows us to focus less on logistics and more on documenting your experience.
Lighting Tips for Beautiful Birth Photos
One of the things families often love about Atlanta Birth Center is the ability to create a comfortable and personalized environment.
Lighting plays a big role in both the atmosphere of your birth and the way your photos and films look.
We never use flash during labor or birth.
Instead, we photograph and film entirely using the ambient light available in the room. This allows us to preserve the feeling of the space exactly as you experienced it.
If you'd like to create a warm and cozy atmosphere, we often recommend bringing a small strand of incandescent twinkle lights.
These create a beautiful glow that photographs wonderfully and adds warmth to both photos and video.
We generally recommend avoiding LED string lights. While they may appear steady to the eye, many LEDs create a subtle flicker that can show up in photographs and films as distracting flashing or banding.
A few simple tips:
Bring warm incandescent twinkle lights if you'd like extra ambiance.
Avoid LED fairy lights whenever possible.
Skip color-changing lights.
Use lamps and natural window light when available.
Don't stress about low light—we are highly experienced photographing births in dim environments.
Some of our favorite birth images have been created in the soft, quiet glow of Atlanta Birth Center during the early hours of the morning.
Fresh 48 Newborn Photography Alternatives After Birth Center Births
Because families are typically discharged from Atlanta Birth Center sooner than they would be from a hospital, many families choose either full birth coverage or an in-home Fresh48 or newborn session after baby arrives.
If you're interested in documenting those first hours and days after birth, we'd be happy to discuss the options that best fit your family's plans.
