How On-Call Birth Photography Works

Birth is unpredictable, which is why our coverage is built around flexibility.

When you book with The Birth Story Collective, your photographer goes on-call around your due date. We stay available 24/7 during your on-call window so that when labor begins, you can reach out and know someone is ready to come.
Once you contact us, we’ll check in with you as things progress and arrive when active labor is established (or earlier, depending on your preferences, birth plan, and history). We stay through delivery and typically 1-2 hours afterward to document those first moments together.

By working as a team, we can better provide you with the peace of mind that comes with knowing there are multiple birth photographers who you have met, who know your preferences, are on call, and are ready to attend your birth. You will chat with all three of us and ensure that you feel comfortable with each of us.
As soon as possible, as we only take on a limited number of births per month. With that said, if your estimated due date is approaching, please still reach out to see if we have availability!
Yes, payment plans are available, and we can discuss options individually. We require a deposit, and the balance is due at 38 weeks. We also offer the option of creating a personal gift registry for our clients, where friends and family members can contribute to the best present ever: the gift of memories!

We offer birth photography and videography all over the metro Atlanta area, including Home, Hospital and Birth Centers. This includes Atlanta Birth Center, Piedmont Hospital, Emory Decatur Hospital, Emory Midtown Hospital, Northside Atlanta, Grady Hospital, and North Fulton Hospital, and are open to traveling further out, so just ask! We have a rotating on-call schedule, so who attends your birth depends on when your labor starts.
Your personal preference for how much nudity we photograph is something we discuss at our consultation. We have clients who want a full approach and others who prefer a more modest perspective. Every birth is photographed artistically.
Absolutely! We understand that birth is personal and intimate and that you may wish to keep some of your birth photos private. We love it when families choose to share their photos and normalize birth, and we will ask what your privacy preferences are once you’ve seen your birth photos.
We stay at your birth for about 1-2 hours after your baby arrives. That means we will photograph some of your labor, delivery, and your first hour or so of postpartum snuggles.
